Me imagino la cara de los gringos al entrar a Tijuana, WTF? Foreing? Does very little to decrease the image that Tijuana is a hore city, foreplay already? Me enteré de esta equivocación ortográfica gracias a mi estimado amigo Refried Gringo, crónista tijuanense cuyo idioma de preferencia es el inglés. Sí, es gringo, pero como el lo dice, conoce mejor Tijuana que cualesquier otro fulano y eso no lo dudo, el vato hace vida ahí desde el año del caldo.
Qué vergíüenza, y yo que me ufanaba de que en Tijuana somos bilingíües, quizá el error diga más de aduanas que de Tijuana pues aduanas es entidad federativa y ahí no suelen ser nativos los que controlan ese cacho lucrativo de la ciudad, aunque no es fácil aceptar el error sin que mi orgullo se sienta dañado. A continuación, un fragmento del texto que el error causó a modo de inspiración a mi compa:
I hope that the Mexican government never fixes that sign. I do no mind fancying myself as foreing rather than foreign. I know this place better than many Tijuanenses do, I give instructions to most of the cab drivers wherever I go, and they appreciate it. Thanks to me, some cab drivers here continue to go forward. As do I.
Foreing should be a word, it should encompass all human beings that move forward, that go somewhere. I am foreing, then! Forward, to somewhere I am familiar with. Like many of my Mexican friends here, friends that are now trapped on this side of the big metal fence, yet Mexican friends that could instruct any Greyhound bus driver in California on the best way to get to Salinas or Watsonville or Hollister.
